RED TAG REPAIR
Occasionally, when moving into an older home – or in the process of a renovation – outdated or improperly running appliances or pipes can be marked with a “Red Tag”. Depending on the type of tag, the local utilities may shut off your gas until the item or pipes are repaired or replaced. At the very least, these repairs need to be completed within 30 days.
A Red Tag repair must always be performed by a licensed, professional plumber as dealing with natural gas or liquid propane requires extreme care.

SIGNS OF A GAS LEAK
Gas leaks in your home are a serious threat to your health. There are three main types of gas leaks: natural gas, liquid propane and sewer (methane). Most of us think of and are aware of the potentials and dangers of natural gas leaks from water heaters, stoves, and gas fireplaces. But many forget about the danger of sewer gas around toilets, clogged vents, infrequently used drains, and improperly installed piping under sinks.
Consider these signs of a possible leak. Don’t rely on smell alone as some gases are odorless or are undetectable at low levels.
- Rotten egg smell
- Hissing sound
- Dead houseplants
These are only a few signs. If you suspect you have a gas leak, call for immediate help. Never assume it’s nothing! Gas leaks can be deadly.
Using a professional plumber for repairs or gas line installation gives you confidence. We double and triple check the lines to make sure the connections are tight and done properly.
CW’s Plumbing can handle all your gas line installation needs, such as:
- New Construction
- Remodeling projects
- Installation or repair of a gas stove
- Putting in an outdoor fireplace/fire pit or grill
